Dennis Demedts
Biography
Dennis Demedts graduated in 2003 as a bachelor in psychiatric nursing. After graduating, he started working as a psychiatric nurse in various nursing departments for people with psychological vulnerability (crisis assistance, child and adolescent psychiatry, anxiety and mood disorders, eating disorders, diagnostic unit). During his full-time career, he followed the master of sciences in nursing and midwifery. He successfully completed this study in 2011. During this study he was a student representative on various education councils, as well as on the visitation committee. These experiences helped determine that he took the step in 2012 to become a lecturer in higher education. Dennis Demedts is currently still a lecturer in the nursing course at Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts. His focus is primarily on psychiatry, evidence-based nursing and scientific research. From this last spearhead comes his link with MENT and his doctoral study. The content of this study revolves around euthanasia because of psychologically unbearable suffering and the attitude/ role/ knowledge/ skills of nursing students. Dennis obtained his Phd in 2024.
In private life Dennis Demedts is married to Karolien and they have 3 children together. Dennis likes to play football, loves gastronomy and oenology, likes to go to music performances and likes to be among people.
