Riet Anciaux
Biography
Riet Anciaux (°1985) starts her studies at the Erasmushogeschool Brussel, where she obtains her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2006. Two years later, she receives her Master’s degree in Nursing (option: hospital hygiene) at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. In 2009 she obtains her Master’s degree in Management (faculty of economics), also from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
Riet starts her career as a nurse at the Diabetes Hospitalization Department at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel. Here she gets the opportunity to train as a diabetes educator and is appointed as a researcher. Later in 2014, Riet makes the switch to teaching and becomes a lecturer within the Bachelor of Nursing program (Erasmushogeschool Brussel), which she still performs today.
In 2023, she joined the Mental Health and Wellness Research Group (MENT) at the Free University of Brussels. She has been appointed as a PhD researcher. Her doctoral research consists of improving healthcare providers' approaches in managing the psychosocial needs of patients with diabetes mellitus to improve their quality of life.
