Biography
Annelien Tack graduated as a clinical psychologist from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2009. After gaining some experience in psychiatry, rehabilitation, geriatrics, and pediatrics, she developed a strong interest in palliative care.
From 2010 to 2023, she worked at the University Hospital Brussels, supporting patients and their families in the oncology and hematology departments and was part of the palliative care support team. Alongside her clinical work, Annelien was actively involved in training (future) healthcare professionals in psycho-oncology and palliative care.
Since 2023, she has been working as a psychologist at Forum Palliatieve Zorg, where she applies her expertise in the psychosocial aspects of palliative care to empower and train caregivers and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families. In addition to her work at the Forum, she also serves as a volunteer coordinator and psychologist for the palliative home care team Omega vzw. As a psychologist, she provides tertiary support to team members dealing with palliative care situations.
Annelien values the interplay between clinical practice and the scientific dimension of healthcare and strives to bridge the two through evidence-based work. She has also contributed to several research projects in the field of psycho-oncology and palliative care.
