
Katrien Moens
Biography
Katrien obtained her master’s degree in nursing sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels in 2007. Since than she has worked at different Belgian institutions, including the Federation Palliative Care Flanders, Odisee, KU Leuven, and the federal scientific institute Sciensano. This has always been in the context of palliative care occupying a position in a lecturing-, policy supporting- and/ or research-related position. She was also awarded a Marie Curie Research Training Fellowship and worked for 3 years at the Cicely Saunders Institute at King’s College London within a European Commissioned financed project called EuroImpact.
The focus of Katrien’s Ph.D. is to explore the process used by palliative healthcare professionals to decide when and how to share their emotions during end-of-life care interactions with patients and relatives resulting in recommendations for good practices. Her research project applies an exploratory sequential mixed-methods study design.
