
Miche De Meyer
‘Anticipation, is the ultimate acceptation of self-evaluation’
Prof. dr. dent. Miche De Meyer, graduated from Ghent University, Belgium. She is a dental expert in Sleep Medicine, passionate researcher, networker (affiliated with the universities of Ghent, Nijmegen, Sheffield, Portugal), teacher and clinician (AZ Jan Palfijn, Ghent) and governmental delegated point of contact for the OSAS convention in Belgium.
She runs the Sleep Center at the General Hospital AZ Jan Palfijn , Ghent_Belgium). Her focus is on divers publications in Sleep Medicine, Orofacial Dysfunctions and Sports Medicine, Agogics in Healthcare. She was affiliated as a professor (2021-2024) with the VUB, at the Department of Educational Sciences (EDWE). At the moment (2023-) she is affiliated professor at the VUB_UTC (University Dental Center) and responsible for research and postgraduate education in Sleep Medicine for specialists in the head and neck area.
She obtained her PhD at VUB in 2021 with the title: 'Fundamentals of Snoring: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis and Treatment'. This research project is currently being continued at the University of Sheffield. At the present she initiated and is coordinating
the VUB _Foundation platform: Sleep, Health & Society where sleep meets health by research, innovation and networking in the aspects of the society.
Since September 2025 she jointed the VUB Research Group Ment where the focus will be on the ‘Sleep Health’ in all it’s aspects.
She is founder (2004) and currently Director of the Scientific Committee of the European Academy for Dental Sleep Medicine. Innovation, collaboration and education for quality patient care are her professional core values.
